From CBE’s 2022 Conference “Exploring the Fullness of Galatians 3:28” in Atlanta Georgia.
Prior commitments create pressure to either restrict or expand the meaning and application of Galatians 3:28. The proper control is to read it in the context of Paul’s overall argument in his letter. This shows it has both “vertical” and “horizontal” aspects. God’s great purpose is to generate new-creation-lives in both men and women, lived in the power of the Spirit, in genuine community, so that both men and women become his true image, like Jesus, as full “sons” of God in one family. This challenges common teachings about “biblical manhood and womanhood.”
