Broken but Hopeful Hearts
By: Coralee Murray | September 5, 2006
As we see from the examples of Ruth and Naomi, God works through widows in unexpected and redemptive ways. Like Boaz and the people of Bethlehem, may we stand out in history for welcoming them and working with them, respecting and learning from their broken but hopeful hearts.

Visibility & Inclusion
By: Dr. Mimi Haddad, President of CBE International | September 5, 2006
As men and women, we serve God not as distinct and separate groups, but as unique members of Christ’s body—created in God’s image—gifted through the Holy Spirit, obedient to God’s Word, and called to Christian service.

Wild Hair and Gender Equality in 1 Corinthians 11:2–16
By: Philip B. Payne | July 31, 2006
C. F. D. Moule wrote that the problems raised by 1 Corinthians 11:2-16 “still await a really convincing explanation.” G. B. Caird added, “It can hardly be said that the passage has yet surrendered its secret.” W. Meeks regarded it as “one of the most obscure passages in the Pauline letters.”

Left-Handed Ministry
By: Alex Bearden | June 5, 2006
God uses people who are right-handed and left-handed. God uses men and women. God doesn’t use women as a second choice any more than God doesn’t use left-handers as a second choice.

Our True Identity in Christ
By: Dr. Mimi Haddad, President of CBE International | June 5, 2006
CBE is dedicated to helping others locate their true identity and potential for ministry in Scripture’s teaching that in Christ there is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female (Gal. 3:28).

Biblical Egalitarianism and the Inerrancy of Scripture
By: Roger Nicole | April 30, 2006
The matter of the place of women in the home, in society, and in the church is not an issue that can be conclusively determined by a few apparently restrictive passages that are often advanced by those who think that subordination represents God’s will for women.

The Scandal of Equality in Jesus’ Ethical Teaching
By: David Instone-Brewer | April 30, 2006
Three ethical issues in the Gospels might be said to relate to complementarian or egalitarian ideologies, and they are conveniently grouped together by Matthew in chapter 19.

The Way More Fully
By: Virginia Gray | April 30, 2006
What does Luke mean when he says that Priscilla and Aquila taught Apollos “the way more fully?” We will answer this question by studying the wider as well as the immediate historical context of the text.

The Legacy of Pain: An Analysis of Genesis 3:16a
By: Lorraine Cleaves Anderson | April 30, 2006
Only as individuals, cultures, groups, and generations grasp the equality of females and males intended by God at creation can the legacy of pain inherited by all women from the fall continue to be reversed.

Book Review: Alan Johnson's 1 Corinthians
By: Cynthia Long Westfall | April 30, 2006
Alan Johnson's work on 1 Corinthians is particularly engaging. His reference notes and bibliography provide an entry into further study if desired, all while maintaining an appealing readable style. He deftly bridges the two horizons of the Greco-Roman culture and American culture.
