Looking Forward: Living in Redeemed Relationships
By: Ken Fong | July 31, 2015
If the way things are will never change until Christ returns, those experiencing oppression and marginality today struggle to believe that the gospel is truly Good News for all. Christ calls us to live today as a preview of what will be true for all eternity.

Finding Christian Headship at the Mississippi Headwaters
By: Sara Ronnevik | June 17, 2015
In studying the Old Testament, we uncover the unmistakable narratives of women who took leadership and teaching roles among God’s people. Deborah, Miriam, and Huldah stand out as impressive examples of these OT women leaders. Similarly in the earliest days of the Christian church, women were teaching and proclaiming Christian doctrine to men. Anna, [...]

Silence
By: Aída Besançon Spencer | July 9, 2014
What we learn from 1 Corinthians is that sometimes good actions that we are free to do can keep us from doing the first two words of chapter 14: "pursue love." Love is more important than our freedom in Christ. We have to work on our ability to love.

St. Veronica
By: Andrea Lorenzo Molinari | April 29, 2014
When I was a child, the Stations of the Cross were a big part of my experiences of Holy Week at my home parish. I am a very visual person, so I remember well the stations that were on display. They were carved from a light-colored wood and rendered in a very realistic and striking [...]

By: Jeff Miller | March 4, 2014
In this blog I am arguing that adelphoí should sometimes be translated as “brothers and sisters” or “siblings,” not only when it symbolizes a spiritual relationship, but also when it is used of actual family members.

One Image, One Purpose, One Baptism
By: CBE International | January 1, 2014
This journal richly affirms the notion that we as male and female are made in one image, for one purpose, and brought together in Christ through one baptism. Developed for Lutherans.

Biblical Foundation for Mutual Submission
By: Philip B. Payne | July 31, 2011
This recording surveys the exegetical, theological, and practical foundations for mutuality between men and women in Scripture. It also surveys and responds to the primary objections to biblical mutuality.

Biblical Interpretation and the Epistle to the Ephesians
By: Lisa Baumert | April 30, 2011
Where and how we start in our interpretation of Scripture determines where we will end up. When seeking to understand the relevance of the Bible’s teaching for our lives, interpretive starting points are particularly significant. The method by which we read and derive meaning from Scripture is the fundamental determinant of the nature of [...]

Leadership Requires Character
By: Dr. Mimi Haddad, President of CBE International | August 19, 2009
Paul is concerned with gender in 1 Timothy because the women at Ephesus were individuals whose leadership did not demonstrate the fruit of the Spirit. Paul is objecting not to their gender, but to their leadership that domineered over men. We understand this because of the unique verb Paul selects for “authority” (1 Tim 2:12).
