Effortlessly and without much explanation, Jesus welcomed the marginalized living on edges of his culture. His welcome was a great annoyance to his community, and even to his disciples. Yet, Scripture makes clear that the outsiders, denied dignity and welcome, were those Christ intentionally pursued.
