Now, consider your organizational map and answer the following questions:
1
Do strategic roles tend to be filled by men or women? What about the operational roles?
2
Of all the roles mapped, which roles would you consider most necessary for the functioning of the church? If those roles were not filled, how would the church function?
3
Is there a difference in the way the church values roles traditionally undertaken by women versus roles traditionally undertaken by men? Note differences in pay, decision-making authority, and both public and interpersonal recognition. What do these differences imply about value and respect for different roles?
Consider:
Are there any observable patterns in paid vs. unpaid roles?
Who is sought out for making decisions? Who gets credit for decisions?
Which positions/roles can make independent decisions?
Who gets awarded with attention and recognition by the church body and leaders for performing their role?
