From CBE’s 2025 Conference “Let Her Lead: The Biblical Basis for Women’s Leadership” in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
This workshop seeks to highlight the leading role of women in the book of Exodus, often overshadowed by traditional interpretations and a male-centered bias. To illustrate how this conditioning can conceal what is evident in the biblical text, we will use Exodus 2:1–10 as an example. Afterwards, we will analyze, using narrative tools, various passages in Exodus where women play a decisive role. Finally, we will emphasize the urgency of incorporating new exegetical analyses to rediscover the female participation in God’s salvific plan revealed in the Bible.
