“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If they fall down, they can help each other up. But pity those who fall and have no one to help them up!” (Eccl. 4:9-10 TNIV).
A famous preacher once said that the most terrifying word in English is the word “alone.” From our yearly conferences, to our publications, to our website, blog, and weekly newsletter, Arise, people tell us (often in tears) that our ministry keeps them going from week to week. Why? Because they know they are not alone. To enjoy the support of other Christians who value Scripture and read on its pages a call to gift-based, rather than gender-based, ministry is one of the most important services CBE offers.
Several months ago I was in church and noticed a family that looked familiar. As I went to greet them, I realized they were old CBE friends. The mother threw her arms around me, with tears in her eyes and said, “Mimi, you have no idea how much CBE means to me. I am all alone in my community, but knowing I’ll hear from you and others each week keeps me going! Thank you.”
Friends, there are so many people who believe they are alone in their churches, denominations, and communities. That is one reason why we hold conferences each year, bringing CBE resources and fellowship to new locations each year. We want to support as many new people as possible! If you’ve ever attended a CBE conference, you know the energy generated by the workshops, worship, and fellowship is transforming! God’s Spirit works around the clock at CBE events bringing healing and renewal, not only to conference attendees, but also to those they serve!
If CBE has lifted your sense of isolation, please help us extend that gift to others. Join us in bringing many new people to CBE’s Toronto conference (July 18-20, 2008)! Here is how you can join hands with CBE today:
Distribute CBE conference brochures at your church, Bible study, college, seminary, or workplace.
Place a conference ad in your Sunday church bulletin.
Place information about our conference on events boards, or send us names of people who might be interested in learning more about CBE. We’ll send them biblical materials so they will know they’re not alone!
Print conference fliers for friends and to post in churches, schools and telephone polls! Send these to friends, too!
Remember, two working together are better than one (Eccl. 4:9-10)! What if we all joined hands in a global alliance to spread the gospel, using all the gifts God gives his people! What joy we have in knowing you are working beside us. Thank you for your partnership!
