All of the daughters of God can resist
the patriarchal talk that undermines,
teaching God’s children to play fair in church,
no gender favorites and no gender lines.
The women of God need to mother his church,
stopping the subtle emotional abuse,
standing up firmly to powerful men
just like Christ Jesus. Our Lord had no use
for those who kept power all to themselves,
misrepresenting him in their flawed ways,
limiting good in the name of our God,
disdain for his weak ones filling their days.
God’s women can call an end to the ruse
that they are second to all God’s men,
discard “separate roles,” a deceptive term,
nurture what’s godly again and again.
