“…but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express” (Romans 8:26).
Last weekend CBE was preparing for our lecture, booth, and a community dinner at the Jubilee conference, sponsored by the Coalition for Christian Outreach. We were excited and thankful for the opportunity to engage thousands of new college students in Pittsburgh! As we approached the event, we prayed strenuously for God’s intervening presence. We asked God for clear communication—to infuse our words with power and grace.
The day before the conference, one of our most strategic workstations crashed. This was incredibly discouraging because it was the fastest computer in the office, and the one most frequently used for our financial work. We felt our spirits sink, not only because we schedule staff, volunteers, and interns around our limited computer, but we were also aware of how old our computers were quickly becoming.
We prayed about the situation! We also sent out an appeal to you, our close friends. Clearly the Spirit groaned on our behalf. So did our friends! Within a few hours, donations poured in! By Monday, we raised half of the sum needed! This event, though challenging, helped us realize that God groans perhaps more loudly than any of us! And, God’s groans can move mountains!
Mountains were moved during our Jubilee outreach! Our workshop was packed! Students lined the walls, were seated on the floor, and asked many thoughtful questions. Hundreds learned about the biblical basis for gift-based ministry. Our hearts overflow with joy, recognizing the truth that God does answer prayer!!
Upon arriving home from Jubilee, I learned we only need another $1,500 to purchase the remaining workstations at the affordable price our IT coordinator can extend CBE through his professional discount.
Though we do not often know how to pray, or the impact of our prayers, God does! The Spirit intercedes for us, an intercession that is truly beyond words!
Thank you for standing with CBE through prayer and your financial support.
