2015 “Becoming New” CBE International Conference
David Murrow’s survey “Why Men Hate Going to Church” (2005) deserves a better response than the “new machismo” offered by the likes of Mr. and Mrs. Eldredge and Mr. and Mrs. Driscoll. This workshop outlines the “feminization” of North American evangelicalism since the eighteenth century and shows how patterns of contemporary church life alienate many men. Christians who are truly for biblical equality must care about those disaffected men and consider ways to welcome and integrate them into church life without restoring discredited and harmful patterns of masculinity and femininity.
