Most limits placed on women are based on just a few misinterpreted and mistranslated Bible verses. CBE’s “What to Say” article series looks closely at these verses to show how they actually free women and men to lead and serve as equals when interpreted within the context of the whole Bible and the prevailing cultural norms of the time. The series addresses verses such as 1 Corinthians, 1 Timothy, and Ephesians 5 and includes topics like, “What to Say When Someone Says Women Should Be Silent in Church” and “What to Say When Someone Dismisses Women’s Leadership in the Bible.”

Women in the Bible were apostles, prophets, evangelists, deacons, and even warriors. Their stories are part of Scripture for a reason, yet often these women are overlooked.
