Practical Tools and In-Depth Articles

Most limits placed on women are based on just a few misinterpreted and mistranslated Bible verses. CBE’s “What to Say” article series looks closely at these verses to show how they actually free women and men to lead and serve as equals when interpreted within the context of the whole Bible and the prevailing cultural norms of the time. The series addresses verses such as 1 Corinthians, 1 Timothy, and Ephesians 5 and includes topics like, “What to Say When Someone Says Women Should Be Silent in Church” and “What to Say When Someone Dismisses Women’s Leadership in the Bible.”

Did you know the Bible quotes nearly 100 women? It is the only sacred text of a major world religion to give this much space to women’s voices. Women in the Bible were apostles, prophets, evangelists, deacons, and even warriors. Their stories are part of Scripture for a reason, yet often these women are overlooked. CBE offers in-depth articles on some of the most remarkable yet ignored stories, including Jael, Junia, Phoebe, Priscilla, and Tamar. CBE’s articles also provide new insights into familiar women like Deborah, Mary, Sarah, Elizabeth, and Mary Magdalene. The stories of the women in the Bible are important because they inspire and equip women and men today.

From CBE supporters:

“I am so thankful a friend recommended CBE. I honestly can’t imagine my life without them. The insight they share is beyond enriching and my husband and I have loved tackling the information together.”

“I found CBE’s website years ago, when I was an eighth grader questioning the rules I’d been taught about women and leadership. I didn’t want to believe that women were second-class citizens in the eyes of God. CBE’s articles provided me with sound scriptural arguments to challenge that teaching and, moreover, to appreciate Christianity as a faith where I am valued and not diminished.”
