We’re glad to have connected with you at Urbana!
CBE advances the gospel by equipping Christians to use their God-given talents in leadership and service regardless of gender, ethnicity, or class. We are excited to work with young women and men like you who are preparing to lead and serve around the world.
Like you, we are inspired by the historical precendence of women in the field of missions, from the early evangelists like the Samaritan woman at the well, and Mary Magdalene, to Lottie Moon, Ann Judson, and Gladys Aylward. As we maintain our commitment to recovering the heritage of those women leaders in Christian missions we continue to ask and seek answers for tough questions like whether gender-based imperialism exists and how to address it. As your generation of global missionaries emerge, we will remain at the forefront of these discussions, supporting and advocating for biblical equality in all fields to which women and men are called.
Pursuing missions often involves a certain amount of social and geographical isolation that can be compounded by issues of gender. Connecting with CBE’s global network of chapters and partners is one way to combat that sense of isolation. If you find that a chapter doesn’t exist where you live or study, consider starting one! As always, we’re here to help.
These are just a few of the issues at the intersection of gender equality and ministry. A rich and lively conversation is always just a click away, through our social media presence or by subscribing to Arise blog. We hope you’ll join us!
