Advocate

With supporters, ministry partners, and chapters in over 100 Christian denominations and 65 countries, CBE partners with the leaders of denominations, seminaries, universities, and NGOs worldwide, advocating for the biblical truth that women and men are to share leadership and service.

International collaborations aim to eliminate gender-based violence and human trafficking, improve girls’ access to education, and bring women to the decision-making tables of their families and communities.

Conferences

Annual CBE conferences, alternately hosted in the US and abroad and this year online, explore the positive impact of egalitarian theology in the world—in relationships and families, churches, seminaries, and Christian NGOs. At CBE’s conferences, you get to:

  • Hear pastors, authors, professors, and social justice advocates speak on a variety of engaging, timely, and scholarly topics and issues.
  • Network with renowned scholars, activists, non-profit leaders, pastors, and egalitarians from around the world.
  • Leave encouraged and equipped to better embody God’s vision of biblical equality in your own life.

From a recent CBE conference guest:

“Our pastor requested to meet with myself and [three friends who also came to the conference] to discuss our perspective on how our church is doing with gender relations, which is opening up dialog about how we can continue to increase support and respect for the women at our church…We are also starting a study of the book, Equal to Serve, this semester…All of this passion and awareness for further study would not have happened without the CBE conference…One of the main things I learned through attending is that I am not alone. It increased my hope in the God that sees women, created women for a full, amazing purpose, and loves them!”

CBE advocates for the biblical basis for women’s equality at Christian conferences and with institutions like the Evangelical Theological Society because they impact the gender roles defined in churches, Bible translations, and global mission work:

  • These events draw top theologians and educators, as well as students and pastors
  • Exhibits share resources and encouragement
  • People new to CBE receive award-winning Priscilla Papers journals and Mutuality magazines free, as well as editions specially customized for academics and pastors

From volunteers at a CBE exhibit booth:

“Some women had never heard there was another way to do life in the church except that men were the leaders.”

“Several women discussed the confusion and tension they faced when being denied the use of their gifts in their churches…yet were teaching and leading openly in other places.”
