About Joy J. Moore

Joy Jittaun Moore, PhD (Brunel University/London School of Theology) serves as associate professor of homiletics and Christian ministry at Wesley Seminary in Marion, Indiana. She is an ordained elder in the West Michigan Conference of the United Methodist Church.

Joy earned a PhD from Brunel University and the London School of Theology and an MDiv from the Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, Evanston, IL. Her distinguished career also includes serving as the associate dean for African American Church studies, visiting professor of preaching, and associate dean of Church relations and Black Church studies at Duke University, the assistant professor of preaching and director of women and ethnic ministry at Asbury Theological Seminary, and assistant professor of preaching and academic liaison to the William E. Pannell Center for African American Church Studies at Fuller Theological Seminary.

Joy is a John Wesley Fellow and president of the Christian Theological Research Fellowship at the American Academy of Religion. She has published over 21 works, and delivered 99 invited papers and lectures.

In 2017, CBE awarded Joy a Lifetime Achievement Award for her advocacy for biblical gender equality.
