The patriarchal hierarchy imbedded in Confucianism breaks the original design of harmony through filial piety and results in male dominance. This oppressive tendency is in dire need of the healing power of the gospel seen in women’s role in New Testament household codes.
This session considers a whole Bible approach concerning women and leadership. Topics will include creation, redemption and service for women and men created in God’s image and recreated in the image of Christ.
Women have outnumbered men 2:1 in Protestant missions history. Often their stories are not told, and this recording will highlight certain people and themes and trace some narrative threads between them.
The workshop offers participants an opportunity to discuss themes according to their interests relating to the details of the passage, its meaning, the culture of Paul’s time, and even Paul’s theology.
