There is little opportunity for them to engage with other Christian businesswomen about how to use their God-given abilities in the workplace while at the same time giving expression to their faith.
Was C. S. Lewis a misogynist? The answer depends on which point in his life you choose to examine. Until fairly late in life, Lewis’ view of gender relations was more influenced by his attraction to classical Greek philosophy, Pagan myth and Jungian psychology than by ‘mere’ Christianity. However, with his late acquaintance and marriage to the gifted American writer Joy Davidman, this began to change, as can be seen in his last (but least-read) works, The Discarded Image, Till We Have Faces, and A Grief Observed.
Nearly 50% of the US workforce are women, working mainly in workplaces designed by and for men. Disadvantages in the workplace cut across secular and Christian organizations, disadvantaging women from enjoying meaningful work and motherhood, advancement in careers, and ultimately living out their God-given gifts and talents. Many of these disadvantages can be tracked down to deeply-held beliefs about women, work, and leadership, beliefs that Jesus sought to dissolve. This workshop explores the mutual prosperity of men and women in organizations when women succeed at work and gain a seat around the table.
