Jesus and Women

Jesus is our ultimate model of women’s biblical equality. His life and teachings guide our commitment to the full equality of women and men in the home, church, and world.
Jesus’s first-century audience would have seen women in the parable of the prodigal son, even if Jesus did not name them. Wives, daughters, granddaughters, female slaves, and female servants were very present and important.
There are seven times in the Gospels where Jesus addresses a female character simply as “woman.” Today, this sounds abrupt, cold, and disrespectful. But Jesus’s “woman” conversations included wonderful things.
