Dismantling Slavery, the Sex Industry, and the Subjugation of Women: An Evangelical Legacy
November 10, 2015 - November 10, 2015

CBE’s president, Dr. Mimi Haddad, will discuss how the early evangelicals were quintessential social reformers and we have them to thank for abolition and suffrage. After decades of exposing the sex industry, the early evangelicals believed that their efforts, though necessary, would inevitably fail without addressing the root causes that were continually overlooked. These Christians perceived an integral relationship—an inescapable link—between viewing females as inferior and their subsequent marginalization and abuse. This lecture will consider the history of the early evangelicals and their reforming work biblically and socially.

This event will start at 6:30pm and ends at 8:00pm.

The lecture series will also consider how Christians have challenged these ideas biblically, particularly during the early evangelical missionary movement.

Setting the Record Straight: The Great Champion of Women- The Apostle Paul
November 12, 2016 - November 12, 2016

Join Dr. Mimi Haddad at the Vista Covenant Church in San Diego on November 13, 2016, as she explores and interprets the writings from Apostle Paul.

Throughout history, select writings from the Apostle Paul have been read out of context in silencing and subordination of women to men. This is a great tragedy when you consider Paul’s closest coworkers were women, including the deacon Phoebe, the teacher Priscilla and the Apostle Junia. While Paul silences individuals who are false teachers, leadership for Paul is located in gifting, calling, and character.
