November 21, 2019 - November 21, 2019

Dr. Mimi Haddad will be giving a presentation at the 2019 ETS Annual Meeting entitled "Arab Women's Leadership in Peacemaking: The tail wagging the dog."

Like women peacemakers worldwide, Arab women peacemakers are not only more successful at drafting peace agreements that endure, they’re also more willing to work across religious and political divides. What is more, they center and prioritize children and women who suffer the most in times of war. This presentation will consider how Arab women peacemakers work in the most challenging circumstances and yet offer powerful models of peacemaking.

Mimi Speaking at 2019 Liberating Evangelicalism Conference
September 19, 2019 - September 21, 2019

Mimi will present two workshop lectures at this year's Liberating Evangelicalism conference (September 19-21) in Chicago, Illinois.

Her first workshop will be on the legacy of Arab women as God's agents of reconciliation. While women represent less than ten percent of all peace mediators and signatures, adding women to peacemaking tables is proven to enhance the quality and stability of peace. Women have a unique place to work effectively across party lines, especially in addressing the needs of women and children.

Her second workshop will be titled "Patriarchy and Human Flourishing." A description of this talk is forthcoming.

In order to attend this workshop, you must register for the conference event. Fnd more information (including how to register) on their website:

CH575: Women in Church History and Theology
April 01, 2019 - June 14, 2019

Mimi Haddad will be teaching CH575 at Fuller Seminary this spring, from April 1 through June 14. The course format is Hybrid+, which combines online and on-campus learning. The on-campus portion will be held on Fuller's Houston campus May 6-10.

This course is an introduction to the leadership, theological contributions, and experiences of women from the early church period through the twentieth century. In each era, we will also consider the historical, theological, and philosophical assumptions that supported, or more often, limited the fullest participation of women’s gifts and leadership in church and religious life. As Christians continue to consider the scope of service and leadership open to women in the church and marriage, this course will explore the significance gender has played in shaping theology, ministry, and Christian life. Readings, class discussion, multi-media, and assignments will enable students to critique the significance of gender in the life of the church today.

CH575 is only available to current Fuller master's students in the Schools of Theology or Intercultural Studies. To learn more about Fuller Seminary, click here
