Frequently Asked Questions

What is CBE and what does CBE do?

Great question! CBE International (CBE) is a nonprofit organization of Christian men and women who believe that the Bible, properly interpreted, teaches the fundamental equality of men and women of all ethnic groups, all economic classes, and all age groups. With supporters, ministry partners, and local chapters from over 100 denominations and 65 countries, CBE engages Christians with conferences, adult and youth curricula, multi-media resources, award-winning publications, a blog, and more.

What resources does CBE offer?

On our website you can find inspiring articles from our popular print + digital magazine, Mutuality, our academic journal, Priscilla Papers, and several other articles published from influential organizations and authors.

If you’re unfamiliar with how the Bible teaches that women and men are to lead together and serve as equal, check out Still Side by Side, a free book that offers a brief introduction.

We also host an online bookstore where you can find the best egalitarian books, curated and reviewed by knowledgeable CBE reviewers.

Can I write for CBE publications?

Yes! CBE welcomes submissions for each of our resources. Learn more about writing for our publications.

I saw something in a CBE article but I can't remember where I saw it. Can you help me find it?

We may be able to help. But before contacting us, we invite you to use the search feature of our website. Almost all our articles are hosted on the site, so it's likely that if we can find it, so can you. If you're still unable to find it, contact us and we'll see what we can do to help.

Does CBE host any events?

Yes we do! We have been hosting annual conferences since the early 1990s. We've held conferences all over the globe, from Seattle to South Africa, Colombia to Finland, and here in our hometown of Minneapolis.

Along with our conferences we host exhibit tables at a variety of events hosted by other influential organizations.

Finally, our many chapters host events each year. While most are based in the United States, we have chapters representing CBE internationally as well.

How can I be involved in one of CBE's events?

We are always looking for volunteers at CBE-hosted events and other Christian conferences to staff tables and to help receive and transport materials.

I noticed that there is not a chapter in my area. Can I start one?

We would love it if you started a chapter in your area! We just ask that you read through a few instructions and then you can begin a conversation with our Chapter Liaison.

Can you help me to find a local church, counselor, or spiritual director that holds to CBE's mission?

We would love to! In fact, we have created directories of egalitarian churches, egalitarian spiritual directors, and egalitarian counselors and therapists. Take a look at our directories and we hope you find what you are looking for.

If you go to an egalitarian church, or work as a counselor, therapist, or spiritual director, and you or your church should be on our list, contact us.

I am in full support of what CBE does! Is there some way I could donate to expand CBE's outreach?

Wonderful, thank you! We appreciate your support and your generosity.

CBE accepts one-time donations, recurring monthly gifts, as well as gifts from donor-advised funds, stocks, and even cars, property, and commodities. To learn more or to donate, visit our donation page.

You can become a member of CBE's Legacy Circle by remembering CBE in your will.

I think I'd like to volunteer or work for CBE. What opportunities exist?

Glad you asked! To apply for an internship, become a volunteer, or to see if we are hiring, you should view our opportunities page.
