For this week's link up, I am featuring blog posts that focus on Holy Week and Easter. There are a lot to choose from! Enjoy these wonderful articles as you reflect on Jesus' death and resurrection this weekend. Not only can we celebrate Jesus' triumph over sin and death, but also the remarkable ways Holy Week shows us the vital role women played in Jesus' life.

The Annointing of Jesus at Bethany, by Kay Bonikowsky (The Junia Project)

"Anointing proclaimed kings, ordained priests, and heralded the Spirit’s work in the Old Testament. It transferred authority from God himself. The one who anointed and the ritual itself were recorded and lauded as defining moments. God chose this humble woman as His hand to anoint His Son as King."

Husbands, Crucify Your Privilege: Ephesians 5 & How Men Take the Lead, by Kurt Willems (Patheos)

"If you are a husband, Ephesians 5 invites you to model your relational role after Christ himself: by crucifying your privilege. Yes–take your Roman virtue and nail it to the cross!"

What Easter Says about Trusting Women, by Bronwyn Lea (The Huffington Post)

"But in the hours and days after his death, God in His sovereignty entrusted a group of women to be the first witnesses of Jesus' resurrection. Women, whose opinion counted for nothing in court. Women, who couldn't vote. Women, who were regarded as less able, and innately less trustworthy. But it was to these that the Angel first testified that Jesus had risen from the dead, and to these that Jesus first appeared and commissioned to bear witness to his resurrection."

Jesus had Many Female Followers--Many! by Marg Mowczko

"I read Matthew 27:55-56 this morning and saw something I had not noticed before.  There were many women at Jesus’ crucifixion – many (Greek: pollai). I had previously imagined that only a few women had accompanied Jesus and made the trip all the way from Galilee to Jerusalem – usually a journey of several days."

The Women of Holy Week, Part 1: Why the Women Matter, by Rachel Held Evans

"Just as Jesus predicted, most of the Twelve abandoned him at his death (John 16:32). But the women remained by his side—through his death, burial, and resurrection.  It is during Holy Week that the stories of these women really shine."

Have a blessed Good Friday and a joyous Easter! Christ is Risen!
