E-Quality Guidelines for Writers
E-Quality is a quarterly, online publication of Christians for Biblical
Equality (CBE). E-Quality is available at no cost and provides information on
biblical equality for subscribers and visitors to CBE's Web site,
www.cbeinternational.org.
CBE's online journal is particularly geared to serve
those who are exploring biblical equality, but are not ready to commit to CBE
membership or are unable to afford it. E-Quality strives to educate such
individuals, while simultaneously offering useful information to members and
long-time supporters of biblical equality.
Most of the articles we publish fall into the following categories:
Personal testimonies illustrating how biblical equality provides practical
benefits to everyday lives.
Teaching on relevant Bible passages, explaining the meaning, and showing how to
apply it to daily life.
Reviews of books about biblical equality that would appeal to a wide audience.
(Books must complete CBE's book service review
process before being reviewed in E-Quality.)
E-Quality also features art. If you would like to
submit art images for consideration, email
mgreulich@cbeinternational.org
for more information.
The length of features is generally 1,300-3,000 words.
Articles should follow the Chicago Manual of Style (for examples of
CMS humanities style documentation, download the
Style Guide for Priscilla Papers Authors).
- Send articles by email to
mgreulich@cbeinternational.org (if possible, as an attached
Microsoft Word document) or to the address below for snail
mail. Please do not send more than two pieces at the same
time or submit a piece to another publication at the
same time you have submitted it to us. We are unable to consider or respond
to authors whose pieces are substantially over 3,000
words.
- We assume all articles and reviews submitted are original and unpublished,
and submitted exclusively to us. If your material is copyrighted, we assume you
are authorizing us to publish it. Unless otherwise indicated, we also assume
full reprint permission (in all media including various electronic media) of any
item we publish. North American serial rights to the article include electronic
rights and posting on our Web page (http://www.cbeinternational.org). We reserve
the right to accept or reject any article submitted.
- We attempt to respond to submissions as quickly as possible, but staff
reading of manuscripts sometimes takes four weeks or more. We appreciate your
patience. If we like your article, we may ask to hold it for possible
publication in a future issue.
- The editors reserve the right to edit and shorten articles as necessary. If
we make major changes in content, we will consult with the writer.
- We plan issues four to six months in advance; please keep this in mind when
sending timed pieces.
- CBE encourages the use of inclusive language.
Please use gender inclusive translations for scripture like the TNIV.
- We avoid the use of footnotes in E-Quality and
instead encourage the use of in-text citations consistent with the CMS.
- Articles should be accompanied by an abstract.
- Please also include a two or three
sentence description of yourself with your manuscript,
along with your address, telephone number and e-mail address.
As of right now, E-Quality does not include author photographs.
