Journal Gains Exposure Among Church Librarians

Faith and Mary JoyceScott and Jennifer TorkelsonChristine Baynes

The Lutheran Church Library Association (LCLA) held their 2002 Annual Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota, last November. CBE staff Mary Gonsior, Joyce Lind, and volunteers Faith Totushek and Christine Baynes represented Christians for Biblical Equality (CBE) at the conference. The CBE booth, which displayed the award winning journal, Priscilla Papers and a variety of other materials, sold over $400 in books.

CBE volunteer Christine Baynes commented "I had a great time promoting CBE's materials. I sold several items and the librarians that I helped were very excited about the books in our collection." Baynes is a library science student and member of the Spirit Garage Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. Totushek is a full-time student at Bethel Seminary and is married with two sons and one daughter.

LCLA held prize drawings over the course of the weekend. CBE contributed materials to this prize drawing. For instance, Judy Simko of St. Philip's Church in Fridley was pleased to win a copy of The IVP Women's Bible Commentary. In addition, Scott and Jennifer Torkelson of Union Congregational United Church in Saint Louis Park were thrilled when they won a one-year subscription to CBE's journals, Priscilla Papers and Mutuality, in the CBE book drawing.
