MINNEAPOLIS – May 2006

Christians for Biblical Equality Publications Receive Three EPA Awards

For the fourth year in a row, the Evangelical Press Association (EPA) bestowed Higher Goals Awards on publications by Minneapolis-based Christians for Biblical Equality (CBE). At this year’s convention in Orlando, Fla., May 7-10, CBE’s academic journal, Priscilla Papers, received three awards in three distinct categories, biblical exposition, poetry, and critical review.

Walter C. Kaiser, Jr., former Professor of Old Testament and current President of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, earned 2nd place in biblical exposition for his article, “Correcting Caricatures: The Biblical Teaching on Women.” In poetry, Victoria Peterson-Hilleque won 5th place for her piece, “The Color of Light.” In the category of critical review, the critique of John Eldredge’s best-selling book, Wild at Heart (Nelson Books 2001), by Gordon College students Brynn Camery-Hoggatt and Nealson Munn, took 5th place. All works were featured in 2005 editions of Priscilla Papers.

In addition to Priscilla Papers, (which had received four EPA awards previously), Christians for Biblical Equality publishes Mutuality, a newsmagazine that provides inspiration, encouragement and information about equality in the Christian church throughout the world. Mutuality won two EPA awards in 2005. The honors commend the high quality of each publication, and the popular and academic appeal of CBE’s ministry. People from all walks of life read and respect the research and creative expression articulated in CBE’s journals.

CBE is the largest clearing house in the world for resources related to gender and the Bible. It also publishes E-Quality, an online journal, and The CBE Scroll, an online blog. Equality Depot (www.equalitydepot.com), CBE’s online bookstore, provides hundreds of books, articles, recordings, and curricula addressing biblical equality and related issues.
