CBE'S Philosophy of Fundraising
If you are 70.5 years of
age or older you can rollover up to $100,000 in 2007 from your IRA
account to a charity like CBE. There are certain tax advantages for many
taxpayers. Contact your professional advisors for more details. Christians for Biblical Equality relies on
the financial support of people like you to continue its vital ministry.
How can I make my life count for more?
Giving is one of the highest realizations of
personal commitment to Christ. Faithful stewardship is an end result of
a dedicated life. As we invite people to give to CBE, we desire to
minister to them as well as the cause of Christ.
We view our
fund raising activity through
the words of the Apostle Paul to Timothy:
Warn those who are rich in
this world's goods that they are not to look down on other people; and
not to set their hopes on money, which is untrustworthy, but on God
who, out of his riches, gives us all that we need for our happiness.
Tell them that they are to do good, and be rich in good works, to be
generous and willing to share- this is the way they can save up a good
capital sum for the future if they want to make sure of the only life
that is real.
I Timothy 6:17-19 (JB)
Paul reminds us we are not simply fund-raisers. We are ministers who assist
people in one of the most essential Christian responsibilities- that of
personal stewardship. We do not go out to get money; we go out to help
them give money. We are giving them the opportunity to make a commitment
to communicate the biblical truth that men and women are equally
responsible to use their God-given gifts to further Christ's kingdom.
Practical guidelines to apply this philosophy:
1. We believe there is a strong biblical basis for stewardship. We
will refer to scripture in making appeals, when appropriate. We will
also illustrate how CBE's message changes lives.
2. We must be sincerely interested in our donors with a desire to
meet their needs. Stewardship involves challenge, but not pressure or
unethical appeals. Our task is to present the opportunity. How they
respond is between them and God.
3. The need for funds will be clearly and honestly presented. We will
never resort to dishonorable methods of fund-raising.
4. A compelling case for support will be made as gifts are solicited.
We will not rely on manipulation or guilt as a motivator.
5. Because all contributions come from those who trust us, we are
obligated to spend that money conservatively and wisely. We will conduct
all of our activity in the most economical way possible.
6. All donations will be handled immediately, with receipts going out
within three to five working days. These receipts will be personalized
as a practice of mutual ministry and relationship building.
7. Money received for a particular project will go directly for that
project. Should any project become over funded, the donor will be
invited to apply the gift to another project or to have it returned.
8. We will not sell or distribute the list of donors.
9. A complete current audit and Form 990 will always be available
upon request.
10. We will conform to the standards established by the Evangelical
Council for Financial Accountability.
