Christians for Biblical Equality
Issue Group 24: Empowering Women and Men to Use Their Gifts Together in
Advancing the Gospel

At the Lausanne Forum held in Pattaya, Thailand September
29th - October 5th, 2004 our group focused on these topics...
-
What is a Christian/biblical perspective on the dignity and
value of women?
-
How do we define spiritual gifts biblically, and what are
the purposes of spiritual gifts? Are spiritual gifts gender bound?
-
Is evangelism and missions furthered or hindered when
organizations empower the gifts of all Christians? What happens to missions
and evangelism when organizations are selective in their affirmation of
spiritual gifts of Christians?
-
What has been your experience?
-
Do you have a model of empowering women and men in shared
ministry, based on giftedness, for others to consider?
-
Do you have an organizational strategy for empowering the
gifts of men and women in shared ministry?
-
What holds women back from using their spiritual gifts?
-
What impedes mutuality in ministry between men and women,
and provide strategies that enlarge the ability of churches, organizations
and individuals to empower men and women to use their gifts in service to
Christ.
-
How do we define abuse? How can we educate, intervene, and
prevent the abuse of women and children?
-
How can we encourage a spirit of reconciliation and
acceptance between those who hold differing biblical views regarding men and
women using their gifts together in the home and in ministry.

Feedback from Lausanne Issue Group Participants:
"Lausanne helped me to extend my vision for my church ministry, especially in
evangelism to many people groups. I learned a lot from our group about
empowering women and men in ministry for my country." — Asia
"The experience of sharing in the personal dynamics and
intellectual/spiritual challenges of this group can only be described in
superlatives. It was one of those times that truly reflects - 'Heaven on the way
to Heaven!' Thank you for your sensitive and goal-oriented leadership, which
paid rich dividends." — Great Britain
"My new step after being in the [Gender] forum will be … empowering women and
men in our Christian magazine here." — Asia
"We came as total strangers and dispersed as great friends… What we
experienced was unique and very fulfilling. This is the kind of feeling I
suspect will be unleashed in the entire church as we learn to release both men
and women to use their gifts to serve God in the calling. You are fighting for a
good cause. Keep it up and I have determined to pray regularly for you." —
