In her own words:
While studying art at North Park University, my focus has
been on painting the figure, particularly the face. My work
emphasizes the importance of the community of people I find
myself surrounded by. I see these paintings as reflections of
relationships that occur between my model, the listener, and
myself, the painter. In both the self-portraits and portraits of
people close to me, I represent many sides of an introverted and
extroverted relationship, the sides you understand through
intentional observation. Although all the paintings embody a
different pose or painting style, they work together to form a
larger conversation. As conversations form the core to our
relationships, my hope is that they also reflect what it means
to be in a conversation with God. |
