HOW YOU CAN HELP

And they called the blind man, saying to him, “Take heart; get up, he is calling you.” — Mark 10:49

Dear Friend,                                                                      March 2007

In our lives, we have moments of calling. They are times where our God-given passions and our gifts align. This calling gives us vision and purpose; it gives us strength and courage. I would like to share with you the beautiful story of Corrie, a CBE member who is living out her calling:

In the past three years, the young adult population at the Presbyterian church I attend in southern California has grown from four people to at least a hundred. Last year, many people in our small groups started reading Wild at Heart and Captivating. Most of the women saw no problem with the ideas presented, and I became increasingly distressed by our conversations. I started having action-hero dreams in which I was battling evil with my wits and light saber. When I shared this with another woman in my church, she grew serious and told me that traditional marriage roles for men and women were biblically ordained and to “stop having those dreams!” The indignation I felt over her comments spurred me to look up an organization I’d heard about…something about Christians who believe in biblical equality!

I had another dream last summer that I was living in the mid-1800s. In the dream, I reached my limit of being patronized by men and decided to start a movement to empower women. When I woke up the next morning, the dream’s urgent call to free women from their oppression was still very strong. “But the Suffragist movement is over,” I told myself. “Where are the oppressed women who need to be freed?” That’s when it hit me: North American Christianity is another such frontier. I was flooded by a sense that I’m being called to lead women in the church out of oppression and into freedom. How does this call play out in my life? I’ve recently taken the significant step of becoming a financial partner with CBE.

Friends, all over the world people like Corrie are being called to lead others into freedom. Each year, CBE has the opportunity to meet many of these Christians at colleges, seminaries, churches, and conferences worldwide, empowering them to use the gifts they have been given to their fullest.

Will you join Corrie by becoming a financial partner with CBE, enabling others to hear and pursue God’s call on their own lives? Will you make a generous contribution, allowing CBE to bring the truth of biblical equality to many people worldwide?

Thank you for the passion and vision you share with CBE—God bless your generosity!

In Jesus,

Mimi Haddad
President

P.S. For every new gift of $1,000 or more, CBE will send you a CBE conference recording of your choice as a thank you gift!
