CBE’s Burgeoning Student Intern Program

Mimi Haddad
CBE President

CBE’s International office is bursting at the seams with student interns this summer! Students from Macalester College, Princeton Theological Seminary, Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary, and Bethel University will infuse CBE’s ministry with their talent and skill this summer in unprecedented numbers. The growing interest in CBE’s ministry among students reflects the emergence of the next generation of egalitarian leaders, both men and women! What is even more exciting is that for years we have dreamt of engaging the talent of an intern with a background in business and marketing. And, we just learned that we may have our first marketing and business intern this fall.

While we invest a great deal of prayer and training into each of our interns, the ministry receives double in return! Those of you who work with college and graduate students know what I mean. Not only do they have endless energy, but their technical skills and their capacity to envision new horizons infuses ministry with new possibilities. God uses these amazing individuals to impart new life, skill and vision into our work!

Two of our interns are interested in spending the summer writing grant and foundation proposals for CBE. With a look of determination in their eyes, they speak with confidence and enthusiasm about soliciting funds for CBE through many different foundations. If you could hear the excitement in their voices, you would feel as I do, that they will probably succeed! One of these interns, at her own initiative and expense enrolled in a grant writing class, and the course gave her many new ideas and materials to help her write a successful grant proposal for CBE!

Another intern will function as a “CBE evangelist,” engaging church leaders, pastors, librarians and academics to explore and advance the mission and ministry of CBE. Like our other interns, his determination fills us with courage and hope that God has doubled our numbers this summer, both in terms of human resources, but also in terms of vision!

Thanks to the generous support of our many donors, we raised sufficient funds to purchase two new laptops which make it possible for our interns to have their own computers this summer, managing, as creatively as possible, our space limitations. Though one of our interns wrote her own foundation proposal in order to work at CBE without a salary, we agree to give all of our students a small stipend.

Will you pray for our interns? Will you ask God to give them many new and exciting experiences that develop their talents and calling? Will you consider making a generous contribution today, to help us increase the stipend we will give our interns? We need to purchase desks and additional office space in the coming year. To make a donation, just click on the "Contribute Online" button, located directly to your right.

Thank you!
