INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM
IN BANGALORE,
INDIA

Christians for
Biblical Equality will be co-sponsoring an international
symposium with South Asia Institute of Advanced Christian
Studies, Pilgrim Partners, and the Union of Evangelical Students
of India at the Ecumenical Christian Centre in Bangalore, India
from February 15–18, 2007. The symposium is entitled “Side by
Side—Gender from a Christian Perspective: Men and Women
Dependent on Each Other (1 Cor. 11:11).” The purpose of this
gathering is “to understand gender from a Biblical perspective,
so that God’s purpose for men, women and His kingdom are
fulfilled.”
This will be a truly
international gathering with speakers from Australia, Germany,
India, Korea, the Philippines, and the United States. Some of
the speakers include Richard Howell, the General Secretary of
the Evangelical Fellowship of India; David and Robyn Claydon,
missionaries and long-time leaders of the Lausanne Committee for
World Evangelization; and Chae Ok Chun, Dean of the Graduate
School of Theology at Ewha University in Seoul Korea.
The registration fee
is $300 USD for CBE members, $375 USD for non-members, and $225
USD for full-time students. Conference fees cover admittance to all general
and workshop sessions, meals during the conference, and
three nights of lodging
at the Ecumenical Christian Centre near Bangalore.
A special tour of
the ancient city of Mysore will be available to conference
registrants. The tour begins on February 11 and ends February
14. It will include a visit to the former Maharajah’s palace, a
tour of a silk factory, a safari to a famous wildlife sanctuary
and an opportunity to shop at local markets. A fee of $350 USD
covers comfortable accommodations for three nights in Mysore
City.
If you are planning
to attend the Bangalore Symposium, you must have a current and
valid passport and
visa. Requirements to obtain an Indian Visa
include possessing a valid Passport for a minimum of six months,
so make sure your Passport is updated as soon as possible. For
