Dear Friends,
I have in my hands a
revolutionary book that could impact thousands of Christians.
It’s small—only 110 pages—but it is full of biblical ideas on
gender and ministry that many long to hear articulated. The book
I am telling you about is the Lausanne Occasional Paper (LOP)
Empowering Women and Men to Use Their Gifts Together in
Advancing the Gospel and its story is remarkable.
In July 1974,
thousands of Christian leaders convened in Lausanne, Switzerland
for a summit which resulted in one of the most important modern
documents to Christian churches—the Lausanne Covenant. This
covenant articulated core Christian beliefs and reinforced the
importance of missions to the Christian faith. Since that
groundbreaking summit, leaders have continued to meet in order
to identify and overcome issues that hold the church in bondage.
One issue that came
to the foreground was that of gender and service. The
limitations placed on women in ministry also limit the spread of
the Gospel. The LOP on gender and ministry was formed to address
this concern. It includes research papers by 20 international
ministry leaders on topics such as:

Reconciling
different viewpoints
The LOP offers
biblical support for empowering both men and women to minister
and spread the Gospel. CBE wants to send this groundbreaking
book to all subscribing CBE libraries and to as many other
libraries and leaders as possible. However, CBE needs your
