Help CBE Get Into Prison!

Dear Friend,

Did you know that CBE has a prison ministry? CBE not only regularly corresponds with inmates but also sends them resources on gender and the Bible. Last year CBE participated in a conference at a women’s prison in partnership with Evangelicals for Social Action. At this event, we learned that women are quite frequently incarcerated for retaliating against domestic violence—an issue that the message of biblical equality speaks against with power.

CBE has been given the opportunity to partner with Christian Library International to send two books to 1,000 prison libraries. The two books that we would like to send are All God’s People, by John Phelan and Called and Gifted by Sharon Cairns Mann. These books will minister to men and women at a point when they are searching for answers and tell them the good news of God and the dignity that God extends to women. What’s more, prisoners have time to read. One inmate, speaking of a CBE resource, said that they had read and shared their donated book until it wore out!

Lives could be radically changed by these books! Each book has the potential of reaching hundreds of prisoners! If each book were to reach 200 inmates, by sending two books to 1,000 prison libraries, we would be reaching 400,000! It is an attainable goal, but we need your help. The publisher of these books is willing to give us a great discount (just over the cost of the books), but we still need to raise $5,980 to reach our goal of sending two books to 1,000 prisons.
