Effortlessly and without much explanation, Jesus welcomed the marginalized living on edges of his culture. His welcome was a great annoyance to his community, and even to his disciples. Yet, Scripture makes clear that the outsiders, denied dignity and welcome, were those Christ intentionally pursued.

On July 21-23, 2017, Christians from around the world will gather in Orlando, Florida, for CBE's 2017 conference, “Mutual by Design: Building God’s Church Together.” The conference will promote the biblical view of gender and Christian leadership—namely, that the Bible places no gender-based limits on Christian service. The need for this egalitarian perspective is as great as ever. Around the world, women and girls suffer oppression because they are considered less valuable than men. This devaluation of women is often justified by patriarchal readings of the Bible. “Mutual by Design” will proclaim a better way.
