  1. Masculinity (Spring 2014, volume 21, issue 1)
    Submissions due: November 15, 2013

A great deal of Christian rhetoric revolves around the notion of biblical masculinity—both its apparent centrality to Christian faith and practice, and the dire consequences of its absence in the home, church, and society. What does the Bible have to say and how should egalitarians respond?

Suggested article topics: What is masculinity from an egalitarian point of view; is there such a thing as biblical masculinity or femininity; insights about Jesus and masculinity; do/should egalitarians advocate androgyny; what is the significance of egalitarian fatherhood; why is biblical equality important for men; how do we raise boys to honor and respect women as equals; personal stories about being a stay-at-home dad or egalitarian father; insights about masculine-only language for God; how to get men to become advocates.

  1. Worldview (Summer 2014, volume 21, issue 2)
    Submissions due: January 9, 2014

We don’t read or apply Scripture in a vacuum, but from within our various worldviews. How does worldview impact our understanding and application of the Bible’s messages about gender?

Suggested article topics: What factors influence our understanding of gender in the Bible; methods for interpreting the Bible’s teachings about gender while accounting for worldview; personal stories of encountering gender in the Bible through the lens of another worldview, or of recognizing the impact of your worldview; how have worldviews of the past influenced current understandings of gender; how should we think about gender in a kingdom-centric worldview; what does biblical equality look like when applied to every aspect of our worldview.

  1. Singleness (Autumn 2014, volume 21, issue 3)
    Submissions due: April 20, 2014

We sometimes  imagine marriage and family to be the ideal fulfillment of the Christian life. But does this fit with the Bible? What does a healthy understanding of singleness look like and why does it matter to egalitarians?

Suggested article topics: What is a biblical perspective on singleness and marriage; biblical insights on singleness and ministry; personal stories from single women and men in ministry; insights into how marriage or singleness might help or hinder women’s efforts to obey God’s call; how can we empower the singles around us Christians to pursue their callings; personal reflections on being single in the church; reflections from single parents, divorcees, or widows on their experience in the church; how does singleness relate to Christian community; what should cross-gender community look like.

  1. Genesis (Winter 2014, volume 21, issue 4)
    Submissions due: July 1, 2014

Everything starts in Genesis, including female-male relationships. What does God tell us about gender in Genesis?

Suggested article topics: What does God tell us about male-female relationships in Genesis; what is the egalitarian response to challenging questions about Genesis or passages that refer to it; insights or personal reflections on gender and Genesis; does Genesis tell us anything about the created purpose of women and men; insights into the connection between gender and the status of humans as God’s image-bearers.
